What is TCA Perfecting Pro Peel?
 
The 12% Trichloracetic Acid Peel is a quick procedure using Acetic and Phytic Acid, to chemically exfoliate the skin and reduce the appearance of fine line, hyperpigmentation, melasma, acne scars and sun damage. 
The TCA peel can be customised by the number of layers applied. 
 
Conditions/ problems that cannot be treated.
 
Ultra-sensitive skin types
Sun-burnt skin
Broken capillaries or couperose.
Inflamed acne
If client is prone to keloid scarring or has a history of poor wound healing
Pregnancy and breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant.
If the client is exposed to UV for extended periods of time eg. – UV exposure should be avoided for at least 28 days post treatment
- client’s job requires them to work outside.
- if they exercise outside for extended periods of time
- make use of tanning beds or sunbathe.
Clients on treatments or medications that thins or could potentially sensitize the skin. Clients on certain medications such as (but not limited to):
- Roaccutane
- Cortisone
- Hydroquinone
- Vitamin A – our Retinal PRO System would have to be discontinued 7 days prior and 7 days post treatment.
- any form of peels or other similar treatments or medications that thins or could potentially sensitize the skin or affect the healing process.
Clients who received any of the following within the last 3 months:
- peel treatment
- botox or filler injections
- IPL or laser treatments
- microdermabrasion
- micro-dermal needling treatments
- Depending on the depth or strength of treatment, client may receive a peel treatment after1 month of the above procedures
Clients who received waxing or electrolysis within the past 3-4 weeks. 
Cosmetic Surgery
 
What to expect during and after the treatment?
 
 
As each skin type will react differently, the below will vary from person to person depending on your treatment procedure/course. Furthermore, the absence hereof does not mean that the treatment was ineffective.
 
During: tingling, burning, stinging or erythema may occur
After: skin may appear sunburned or pink for up to 24 hours
After: skin might feel tight, peel or flake for up to 14 days
After: skin may breakout or may lighten or darken in colour for up to 14 days
Following certain procedures (TCA 12% Perfecting Pro Peel), the above and below may be experienced as more extensive. Plan for downtime after the treatment.
Frosting may occur during certain peeling procedures, and there may be a risk of blanching.
Skin may become leathery and feel tight and will turn darker before peeling starts to occur.
Skin might peel off in larger flakes. DO NOT at any time scratch or peel off any skin (if large flakes occur, these can be cut off carefully using clean scissors).
Flaking or peeling usually appears within 3-4 days post treatment, followed by up to 7 days of light to medium flaking. Skin may take between 9-11 days to peel completely.
 
Post treatment care. 
 
Follow the daily Homecare Routine as recommended by your therapist.
Depending on your treatment, refrain from applying make-up on the same day as your treatment and follow advice from your therapist.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds before treatments and for at least 28 days post treatment.
Reapply SPF (minimum SPF30 required) every 3 hours between 8am and 6pm during the course of treatments and 28 days post treatment,
Thereafter, continue to apply daily.
Avoid any other chemical peels, micro-needling, laser, Botox or filler injections (or similar procedures) for at least 28 days post-treatment.
Depending on your treatment, mild exfoliation using Exfoliating Enzyme may be performed 3-7 days after treatment to minimise visible flaking.
Avoid touching, picking or scratching your face unnecessarily.
Gently wash skin, pat dry and apply products, do not rub harshly when drying the skin after washing. Be extra careful when applying products to not break the skin open, pat products onto skin to avoid dragging over skin.
Avoid excessive exercise and sweating for up to 7 days post treatment.
Do not use cortisone, topical or oral retinol (Our Retinal PRO System would need to be discontinued 7 days prior and 7 days post treatment)
Depending on your treatment, avoid waxing or other hair removal procedures and products for at least 3-4 weeks post treatment.

What is the downtime?
 
Plan for some downtime. Flaking or peeling usually appears within 3-4 days post treatment, followed by up to 7 days oflight to medium flaking. Skin may take between 9-11 days to peel completely.
 
When can I see results?
 
You should see improvement after flaking/peeling.
 
How often should I come for a treatment?
 
A course of treatment is recommended to achieve substantial improvement in certain conditions. This peel can be done every 3 weeks.  Your therapist will advice you accordingly.
